I am excited for the new place, every time I try to find counter space to make dinner I think about all the counter space just waiting for me at the new place. After looking at the website I think we are being given senior NCO housing but they know Doc's rank so I'm not concerned.
I'm trying to figure out which room to pack next, I feel like I can't pack anything because we might need it. I think I'll purge the bathroom, am I the only one who hangs on to old product because "I spent $18.97 on that shampoo"? Like a few years in the closet is going to make an overpriced crappy product suddenly make my hair look like Jennifer Aniston's. No more! Some of this stuff has made the trip from Rhode Island to North Carolina to Washington and I am NOT bringing it to Arizona. And I'm sure at some point this stuff turns to dust.
Maybe I will pack up all the baby stuff my toddler doesn't need anymore (sad). Of speaking of which, am I crazy for wanting to buy #2 a new crib? I can almost fit 4 fingers through the slats on TC's crib and on at least 3 occasions she's gotten her big 'ol leg really suck in there. Even with the breathable bumpers, she pushes them down. The new cribs seem to have more narrow slat spacing. That and I don't know about rushing TC out of her crib and into a big girl bed. And for her big girl bed, should we skip the twin and just get her a full size bed? Ugh, how about she's stays this size forever.
I guess that was sort of packing related, setting up a new room for her has me thinking these things.
As for tomorrow, watch out 4 year old frizz fighting shampoo made from nut oil or whatever the trend was in 2006 I'm coming for you!

Packing sucks, I think it is the most boring work in the world along with reading about plants. You know you first give your time to packing and then move them to other place. Hello, we are not free to do that. So just take the help of friends or just call professionals. I called packing services Sydney to do my packing when i move last month.
ReplyDeleteahh we're looking to start packing up in the next couple of weeks and i am NOT looking forward to it. I'm totally like you and yes, i still have a 2 year old bottle of shampoo and conditioner because they were about $25 a piece - don't tell my guests that use it in the guest bathroom :)
ReplyDeleteJust curious, why did you guys decide to move yourself? I hate packing just as much as you, well probably more actually. I will never pack again. That is what moving people are for right? Especially when you can observe them packing it isn't that scary.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't get a toddler bed for Booker, but his crib could be turned into a toddler bed, but we are keeping it a crib for numero 2 (oh yea I am expecting too haha, I just won't be facebooking or blogging about it for awhile). We had a full size futon already in our home and decided that would be the perfect bed for him. And it is. We didn't need to spend the extra money on anything but bedding.
Doc wants †o do it for the extra money, I like to have my stuff right away. When we moved from RI to NC it was a nightmare, took over a month for our stuff to arrive and when it did we were never notified. When it finally was delivered almost every piece of furniture was broken. Maybe if we were moving during the PCS off season we would have them move us but I have heard horror stories about the process during the summer.
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations!!! I'm so happy for you guys! TC's crib turns into a toddler bed too, I just don't know how much difference 5 months is going to make, right now she would never last the night in a bed that she could freely get in and out of. I always thought we would go straight to a twin and that would be her bed until college but maybe a full size bed would be better, twin beds suck. Whatever we get her next she will have until she moves out :)
I couldn't agree with you more about packing! I am terrible about it, too.. there is no rhyme or reason to how I go about it so that makes unpacking suck, too! Live and learn and it looks like we will have plenty of moves to help me become a pro at it... good luck!
ReplyDeleteEach of our kiddos have had their own cribs because they all converted into toddler beds. I am hating packing as well but I somewhat wish J would let us jut do a DITY when then time comes. I hate waiting on our stuff to arrive half of which will be broken.
ReplyDeleteYuck packing stinks! Hopefully you can get it done quickly! I found your blog through another blog and I am following you now!:)
ReplyDeleteMrs. M
I can see why you would chose the other way. We must have totally lucked out when we got out of the coastguard and we had them move us. We had 1 broken item of no value. Amazing I suppose. We didn't have to wait either. We did take about 10-15 travel days though so maybe that helped out. We were lucky enough to have them deliver it to my dad's basement for storage instead of using they companies random who knows when you will get your stuff storage.
