We returned home from San Diego on Friday, super early. Though we rented a little beach house it was still just a one bedroom which isn't great when traveling with kids. The place was great, right on the beach, Del Mar Beach Resort at Camp Pendleton. This was right outside of our back door.
I was going to do a real post about the trip but I am just not in the mood. We had a great time though, a little time away from Yuma is always good. Here are some highlights then a bunch of pictures.
- Balboa Navel Hospital is crazy, it wasn't designed to be as expansive as it is and Doc got a little crazy in the parking lot and with all his turns and jerking us around TC threw up (like really got sick) for the first time in her life. Mommy instincts had me rip my shirt off to clean her up from the front seat. Thank God I had a tank top on underneath! I got to look like a slob at the hospital wearing Doc's massive hoodie.
- Doc didn't get the injections this time, he has to wait until the beginning of March but he is a fan of this doctor so that's comforting.
- TC is at that age where she notices if someone is different, she didn't even bat an eye at the wounded warriers in wheelchairs missing one or both of their legs, not a head scratch at the many different prosthetic, and no staring at scarred faces. I am so proud of her.
- Like most soldiers Doc made as many Marine jokes as he could while we stayed at Camp Pendleton - mostly trying to get a reaction out of me because my brother was a Marine. Silly boys and their branch rivalries.
- The zoo is so much better when you aren't 30 weeks pregnant.
- TC loved all of the animals, Addie didn't care, she was happy to be outside.

Wow! That place looks really nice. I have begun to feel as if I know you. I came across you from your article that was on SB about TBI. Though our situations are different in many ways they are similar enough that I can relate to you and what your going through and Doc. I did comment on an old post you had when you revealed that you were in WA, but since then I spent my time reading and catching up. Now I just wanted to take a minute and say that I enjoy reading your blog even if Ive never been one to get into reading them. Actually you also inspired me to start my own, I hope you don't mind my mentioning yours and adding a link (till i figure out the button thing and all the other tricks of the trade, hehe) to you. With that said I wish you both well and can't wait till your next post.
ReplyDeleteOne more thing Im not sure if its still there as it has been many years since I was in Yuma, but there was this burger joint called Burgers and Beer (i believe thats right) awesome place! Cool old time look, great food and a really GOOD assortment of beer from all around. If thats your kind of place and its still there you should give it a try. Take care!
These pictures are GORGEOUS! I wish we had thought to (or had the money to) rent a beach house like that while we were in California. I can't believe you were RIGHT on the water like that. That's amazing. The girls look so happy and content at the beach. True New Englanders! <3
