He's Home!

It is an amazing feeling. He's back and he's safe! He's only been home for a few days and it already feels like he never left. I do think that I am different than I was when he left but I don't know if he's noticed yet. I wouldn't think so, I can't imagine what it much be like to go from such an extreme place to home. He's adjusting well, he just needs to get back on a normal sleep pattern and I think we are good to go. This doesn't mean that I am not worried about him. I will be keeping my eyes open to be sure that his adjustment truly is going as well as he says. He can't lie to me, it is just something that he has never been able to do so that will come in handy :)

As for me, I am just so relieved to have him home! I got up and went to the vending machine at work and - ready for this? - I left my cell phone ON MY DESK! Haha, I have been a slave to that thing for the past 3 months and now a missed call is no longer the end of the world.

There are so many changes happening all at once. We are both starting new jobs, he's just moving over from one department to another, I am starting something totally new. I am excited to get out of the nonprofit world, it's just not where I need to be right now. I am not a big fan about the way I am being treated right now though - I do want to work these last few days that I am here but I would love to be able to transfer some of my duties to other people - my last day is Thursday and it is as if my boss is in denial or something. First of all, the fact that they had me be the one calling all over the place to get my last day is total BS - isn't that something your employer should tell you and not the other way around? I have never seen such disorganization when transferring a temp out.

I start my new job next week and I gave a 2 week notice here (not that I needed to because the stop date is the same as the 2 weeks) but in all honesty, I didn't have to - they have know for 2 months that I would be out of here, new job or not so I shouldn't have to be scrambling this last week to make sure everything is covered. I told my boss that I did NOT want a big going away lunch or any of that crap. I am not a big "look at me" kind of a girl. He agreed but then his boss (a woman that I loath) said that they should do something and he is apparently a big pussy and didn't tell her that I really did want anything. Well looks like Wednesday we are all going out to lunch. And here's the kicker - because he knew I didn't want a lot of people he made me pick the invitees! So pretty much I had to make a list of the people I actually like...awkward.

At some point this week DH is reenlisting for another 5 years and while it is a very small ceremony it is one all the same. He will be sworn in and it is something that I really want to be at so I told my boss and he was like "oh I don't know..." Dude, I wasn't asking you. We should know today when it will be but my boss was all "well I hope it's not on Wednesday.." I hope it is. If they want to do something nice for me why not just honor my wishes?

Whatever, all of this sucks but it's OK because tonight when I go home I will not be alone - my baby is back and that trumps any of this other crap!

I know, BAD BLOGGER

I have just been too excited about everything coming up and I am afraid to blog because I want to make sure that I am not telling too much! The important thing is that it is July! JULY! Can you believe it? I am so ready for him to be home, so ready to make bagel sandwiches for breakfast and buffalo chicken pizza for lunch. So ready to have his pants hanging over the dining room chair (why he changes in the dining room I may never understand). I am ready to be woken up not by nightmares of what could happen but by his tossing and turning. I am ready to hear his voice, it has been over 2.5 weeks since he's called. He now has a little more free time but he refuses to call me in the middle of the night - silly man I would stay up all night if I could hear his voice for just a moment. Sometimes I wish he didn't love me so much, but he does, he's looking out for me from 6000 miles away.

The best part is that he is ready too, he told me last night that he is counting down the days and that is not like him at all. He doesn't talk about missing me because it makes him sad, he doesn't talk about any of that stuff so for him to say that he was counting was huge! And now he refuses to talk to me on IM unless I have the webcam up but he would never admit that he likes seeing me.

As for me, well I bough a new dress and shoes. I bought a dress a few months ago but that is is too big now! I told him that it is really slutty and that I am wearing hooker heels, he didn't think that was very funny (but yea you should see what some of the "women" that I know have worn to pick their soldiers up). Ann Taylor doesn't sell slutty dresses so he's safe. He took comfort in me reminding him that I know what he likes. Everything else is getting spruced up too. We now have bedside tables and lamps - so much more romantic than the overhead light. The walls are still boring in there but I may do some arts and craft projects to change that over the weekend. Today I picked up some bamboo sheets are Target - eco-friendly and freaken' soft! Someone please tell me my sheets have to cost $50? And you don't have a choice, it's either pay up or sleep in fabric sandpaper. His bathroom is ready for him too, decked out with his favorite sports teams' paraphernalia. That is a surprise, I can't want to see what he thinks - well he will just say that I am a loser but he will love it.

Other than that it's all about picking up his favorite foods and doing the small things. My to-do list includes washing his car, getting his oil changed, filling up his tank...all the things that he will just not want to deal with. It's not even things that he will think twice about but that is why it's important to get them done.

I am extremely excited to see him reunite with the dog, they are both going to go nuts - and I am going to cry like a baby (I am fight tears just thinking about it). And it will be nice to have help with that mutt - he made me take him out at 5AM again - he sucks.

It's not all about him - I am waiting to hear back about a job, I've lost at least 10lbs and I am pretty much fantastic. Anyone truly in love knows - he is my world, I could have the perfect job and all the rest but without him it would be nothing (hell I gave all that up to be with him). I am going to stop because all of this gushing is making me want to slap myself.
